Google Music app randomly overtakes other music players

I use PowerAmp (full paid version) on my Nexus S 4G. However, the Google Music player will periodically decide to start randomly playing in the middle of a song being played on PowerAmp. Since there are really no "preferences" to speak of in the Google Music app, I can't find a way to shut this bleeping thing off. It ONLY happens when I'm listening to music. Doesn't happen when listening to DoggCatcher, doesn't happen when on the phone.

Anyone else have this happen to them? Any way to fix this? I've seen some reviews of Music where others seem to be having this problem. Unfortunately, since I'm running a stock version of the OS, I can't uninstall this app.

Make the bad man stop!

That's just it - I don't WANT to use their app. I should be able to choose without having another app suddenly and randomly take over.
