Google Music Beta is sick!....at least so far anyway lol.

So I signed up for Google Music Beta awhile back and for a week or so I kept going to their site and all it ever said was invitation requested. Today I decided to check it out again and this time I get the long awaited "you're invited". So of course I immediately downloaded the music uploader and app for my phone. The content management system is simple and easy to use and this goes for the web player as well. The layout of the application looks similar to the current android music player only with better graphics and more options. The max amount of songs you can have in your library is 20,000 which should be more than enough for most people. Bottom line it is dope and you should get it if/when possible!

Those who signed up for an invitation I would suggest checking the site again because I was suddenly invited without any notification whatsoever.

I found that using the app Audiogalaxy fulfilled my needs and much more. I also have Google Music Beta, but personally I feel like people should give Audiogalaxy a try because its a no limits competitor to GMB, and I use it everyday.

How exactly does Google Music work on the Optimus S?
Well first you have to get an invite. Then you download a little helped application to your computer, where it then scans your entire music library and uploads it to Google's service. There's a 20,000 song limit, regardless of size. Then you download the Google Music app from the market, and log in with your google account. Then you're set to go! Whatever music was uploaded to Google, you can now play on your phone.

both google music and audiogalaxy sound awesome and I'm definitely going to give both a whirl. if either scrobbled to last.fm, I'd be set!

I don't believe either scrobble to last.fm, sorry! But I'm glad you're trying out both apps :-)

yeah, I figured it'd be a stretch but you never know! and I do have an ipod so I probably won't need to listen to my music from my phone all that often but I'm still loving audiogalaxy so far.

Yeah just last night I got ahold of an old 16GB iPhone 3G and instead of trying to fit my 30GB+ collection, I just use Audiogalaxy to stream. I wonder if there are any good computer to phone video streamers for the Optimus/Android?

Was anybody able to get the new Google Music android app to pull in the music uploaded to the Beta site on the Optimus S? I have 5k songs uploaded to the Music Beta site - but I can only find my local music on the android app from the SD card... My sync is on.. I was wondering if the Optimus was one of the phones where that feature was supposed to work?

Amazon Cloud drive and Audiogalaxy work perfect though for me...

Thanks

I have not tried audiogalaxy yet but the main reason I would say Google Music is better would be because it gives you the option to make music available offline.

The make available offline option still needs some work but does function. You have to go to albums or artists and then either long press the album/artist or tap the small drop down arrow to show a list of options. Choose "Available Offline" and you're golden. It would be nice if this option appeared on individual songs though.

As far as Amazon's Cloud service goes it does appear to work nicely but its not free which is a huge selling point. I'm sure Google will eventually charge for their service once its available to the public but in the meantime the free service is quite nice :)

I have been using this service and it works flawlessly on my Optimus. You need to go into the player settings and tell it to only show streaming music list. This way it wont read all your duplicated songs on your sd card. I personally love it. Google keeps making more and more awesome products.

If you long press on a song, there is a checkbox to make available offline...

You would think so but I don't get that option when I long press a song. I only get Play, Make instant Mix, Add to playlist, Shop for artist, and More by artist. I would love to be able to make individual songs available offline but I have tried many songs and that function never appears.

Can anyone else make an individual song available offline or is it just me?

I requested an invite about a week ago, but nothing so far. I may try audiogalaxy.

Wow...

I wonder how long it would take me to upload my collection of MP3's.

Around 700GB - maybe 50-100,000 songs - damn - I better start uploading!

Ok well I can't find out how to get to my streaming list. There's no options for settings.

yes uploading does go rather slowly but I noticed it goes MUCH faster when connected via an ethernet cable. I started over wireless and it is at least twice as fast when wired in.

To see your streaming files only you will hit the menu button and go to "Library Options" and then select All Music. If you have a song local on your SD card and the same song uploaded to google music then you will see that song twice in your list.

Yeah I got it. I guess my app didn't load everything til a while after I started uploading.
