You can check in Settings -> About phone. If you think it isn't, report it to Google, maybe they'll do something about it.

Yes that's how it looks. If you want the launcher to look like the nexus 5, you need to download and install the Google experience launcher. Links can be found in these forums.

Or if you already use nova, I'd sign up for nova beta, it'll give you the transparent bars you're Probably looking for

I joined the nova beta group also. It took less than a couple of minutes and the new features were instant. BTW......like the clock and calendar.

I'm kinda disappointed that the notification bar has gone nearly colorless. What's up with that? My BT icon is no longer blue when my headset is attached. And none of the signal strength icons have any color either.

I'm not understanding this.

You obviously haven't kept up with the news. This has been known weeks before KitKat was release, the icons are white to simplify the looks. They also take away the transfer arrows for WiFi, to see more info you have to open the Quick Toggles menu. The devs think the extra info only confuses people, but it might have the opposite effects.

You're right, I did not pay much attention to the announcements. It does simplify the look, but AFAIC it makes it harder to see at a glance. Not a step in the right direction.

google engineer explained that removing the up/down arrow would save battery and processing power.
any unwanted UI element removed for these two factor is always welcome.
