Google Nexus 6 Preorder Info & Reviews

Did you cancel your pre-order after reading the reviews?

Re: Carrier pricing / pre orders

I'm sure everyone knows pre-orders start on the 29th .

Just curious, has anyone heard any pricing other than what the playstore will sell it for? Or, will all of the carriers sell it for $650 / $700?

Most likely everyone will retail it contract-free for the same price. T-Mobile will have an option (WAC) to pay it over 24 months in installments, interest free. The question is the degree of actual subsidy those carriers that do require contracts will offer (I'm rooting for AT&T to run that $49 price that was evidently accidentally shown briefly (as if it's unlocked I'd buy it from them, pay an activation fee, month's service, then cancel and pay the $325 ETF, putting the phone itself on my T-Mobile service at a net equipment cost of about $500 - but don't expect to see subsidies that deep).

Re: Carrier pricing / pre orders

Any word if Best Buy will carry the Nexus 6 (unlocked version not carrier specific ones). I have the Best Buy criedt card and would love to take advantage of the 12 months 0% financing. If not going though Motorola seems like the next best thing. Financing only way I can really justify the purchase.

Re: Carrier pricing / pre orders

Would there be any difference to buy from the carrier , in my case Tmo? If it's the same price and no bloatware then I could save on shipping. Of course I'm talking about in store shopping not pre order.

Re: When will the reviews start?

Where are you getting a Nov. 7 date of availability from T-Mobile? They haven't issued any press releases indicating that, and the website just says "coming soon."

I wouldn't expect a store to have one on display until such time as they can actually take pre-orders - bird in the hand is worth two in the bush...

T-Mobile issued a press release saying it will be available on Nov 12. Based on this I guessed it might be in stores on Nov 7 (but I didn't say its available that day).

My experience with buying phones from best buy without a contract is that it's usually 100-250 more than buying from a carrier without a contract. My guess is that since best buy sells all carriers except for T-Mobile unless you use T-Mobile you'll be good to go.

@lbesze my understanding is that they'll be the same. I too plan to buy from the store and avoid shipping charges. I do however wish the stores provided the same level of excellent customer service / support that Google does when you buy from them directly.

Planning on Pre-Ordering a Nexus 6, have a question about Google Play

The Nexus 6 will be my first Android in many years. If I pre-order on Oct. 29th via Google Play will my CC be charged when the phone is preordered or when the phone ships? Since there is no solid release date I am just wondering when I will be charged for it. I am hoping when it ships so that I have time to sell my current phone.

Thank you for your time!

Re: Planning on Pre-Ordering a Nexus 6, have a question about Google Play

There will be an authorization charge, typically the full amount with Google Play, when you pre-order. This ensures you have sufficient balance/funds. If it has not shipped after a week or so, depending on your bank/credit card, the authorization charge will drop off unless it ships before then. If it does not ship for a few weeks, then the charge should drop off your credit card statement until Google ships them out at which time they'll do the final charge.

At least that's been my experience with Google Play. Most credit card transactions aren't final until the sale is complete, i.e. shipped to customer.

Yes they do a preauthorization to make sure you actually have enough credit or room on your card... Those fund will not show up as an actual charge on your bill until the item ships... If you are using your debit card those funds will be "Frozen" from use on anything else until the preauthorization period ends, the device ships and a full charge hits or you cancel your preorder...

Banks usually have different preauthorization hold periods... If the phone doesn't ship for like 3 weeks it's possible the preauthorization hold will expire and as long as you still have room on your card or the money in your account when it comes time to ship you'll be just fine... If for one reason or another you charge a few things or spend some money and dip below you could find yourself in trouble when it comes time to ship (if it ships after the preauthorization period expires)

@askdes also stated no preorder for nexus 6 on t mobile

Re: When will the reviews start?

Seeing as there are preorders for the Nexus 9 and there are no reviews, I would think there wont be reviews before the preorder date for Nexus 6. Reviews will probably release before they ship, which is what I expect for the N9 as well

Re: Carrier pricing / pre orders

Well that's very disappointing then, sounds like Motorola is the best option.

Ah, found it - the 12th it is. Still, stores will be unlikely to even display a phone nearly a week before they are even able to take orders, as that would discourage the sale in the present - there's an old adage in retail sales called "S.W.A.T.," which means Sell What's Available Today.

Oh really that must have changed as best buy had note 4 and edge weeks before it was available for sale . remember things change all the time . I would not be surprised to see it in store about a week before

Re: When will the reviews start?

Im surprised google didn't do like samsung and have them in store for people to play with before the official launch. Going to wait and see when they are in store before ordering. I like to have a hands on before buying.

att and best buy had the note in stores weeks before launch though..

Re: When will the reviews start?

But pre-orders start on Oct 29 on the playstore. Wonder when you would get it if you pre-order?

Re: When will the reviews start?

You don't typically get charged for a preorder until it ships. Can always preorder and then read reviews and cancel the order if you're not happy.
