My Moto G and X have USB OTG, root not even needed, so more than likely yes.
I use it with a USB OTG cable and FAT32 formatted card. The Moto X is a very twitchy phone when it come to accepting microUSB cables.I had the new Moto X and a meenova and could not get it to work...loved it on my OPO!

Also ES File Explorer, didn't seem to be able to mount the drive, but "OTG Disk Explorer" or "Nexus OTG" work.
