Google Nexus 7 will not boot

I have a Google Nexus 7 that will not boot up. It does not seem to be charging either. I’ve tried different cables/chargers and nothing.

Is there any way to get it working again?

It's a 5 year old device, so chances are the battery is dead. You could try replacing it (either yourself, or bring it to a repair shop).

Wouldn't it still work when plugged in?

It was stuck booting up with those spinning balls for awhile before it died. I was trying to kick it out of booting when it froze and wouldn't restart.

I've never tried it myself, but I don't think it would work while plugged in if the battery is completely dead. That can work for a laptop, but I suspect it wouldn't work for a device -- there has to be a functioning battery.
