google now search opens 2 tabs in chrome

Yeah, does it on my N7 too, but not my Gnex running JB. N7 isn't rooted, Gnex is.

Same here on my n7. always opens a random new tab, then the page I wanted in the second one. Does not hurt usability, it's just odd.

I can't reproduce this issue on my tablet. not sure if this is the issue, but I use Nova Launcher and I added the google search widget to the home screen.

I think it's just if you have a tab open in Chrome. You have to physically exit out of the tab, so it doesn't have the recent webpages.
