Google Now

It's really really slow for me. It takes 20 or so seconds to load up. Anyone else seeing this?

I had this happen once after some tinkering & cured it by deleting the cache & force closing...no recurrence since.

I'm a bit stunned by today's news that Google Now is (today) available on the iPhone. I'd have thought Google would have restricted it to Android as the feature that most trumps iPhone's ability but on the other hand, I'm sure they know what they're doing.

I don't see anything bad about it. What it does is show iPhone fanatics how good Google products can be. They already know that Google Maps just destroys Apple Maps. My guess is that it will probably attract more iPhone users to the Android fold.

I suppose that could be true. I'd have thought they would be more inclined to push the Android strong points as hard as possible considering the slash, burn & litigate approach utilized by Apple. I strongly suspect Google got some future concessions in the bargain.

I already read that lol. The version they are getting is like the version we got at first. Nothing like the new and improved Google now we got. A lot of features is missing.

True but this is mostly due to Apple's restrictions not, Google's. The key features omitted were done so to push Apple's own version of similar features such as, their boarding pass app. I have several family members running the IOS version and while worthwhile, it's no match for the Android version. In a way, I sorta wish it could have had the full functionality for phone functions just to better demonstrate first-hand how superior the voice actions are compared to Siri. Watching my wife & others deal with the iPhone quirks makes me believe Apple has become stale & stagnant & is beginning to limp along on reputation. Barring a major overhaul (and not just more tweaking of same old), I don't see them keeping market share long with the speed and evolution with which Google is developing Android.
