Wondering if anyone is going to use Google Now on their new phone? On the M8 I did then I turned off allowing it to track me and lost some of its functionality. Not sure I want to set it up on the new phone yet and let it also follow me. I like the ideas of it and its useful but having it constantly track me and then on top of that add the chance for more battery drainage from gps is it really worth it?
I wanted to post this year to see how others weigh in on this.

I've been using Google Now since it became available. It's a quick way to get the info I want, sports scores, weather, traffic.

I agree on the above. I disabled the location aspects on the HTC to help with some battery life not that I really needed to but I was wondering about now and with this phone? If it has gotten any better especially with the new software we got with these phones.
Did a bunch of searching this morning and seems many with Samsung s6's turned it off to get battery life back. Also many don't want Google tracking everything but the more it knows the better it is.

Exactly what do you think is going to happen if it "follows" you?

Lol. Nothing other than it knowing more than maybe I want it to. Jk. Honestly my main reason for this post was battery life and such. Searching it appeared many turned it off to get their battery back on the regular S6.

I use Google Now on all of my Android phones, and the Edge+ is no exception. In fact, the first thing I did was install Nova Launcher and setup Google Now as an upward swipe gesture. I also have Location Tracking turned on because I like the new Timeline feature that shows you everywhere you've been, and the Google Now cards that appear for transit times, etc. I don't really feel like Google Now is chewing up battery, and the battery life on this phone is noticeably better than my previous S6 (just the regular S6). Nowhere in the ballpark as my iPhone 6 Plus, though... but that phone is a beast when it comes to battery life.

If you can try these tricks & post back. I'd like to see the improvements in your battery. I too have the 6 Plus, looking to change.

thx much!

I have seen it. Personally, I do not want to turn off anything on my phone just to save battery life. In my view, that defeats the view of using Android, and unless it's specifically something I don't use, I leave everything on. For example, I like Location Reporting by Google because I like looking at my Timeline to see where I've been each day (especially now that my photos are placed in the timeline by location as well, this is very nifty). Likewise, I resist using Battery Saver modes because they have some sort of compromise, whether it's a dimmer screen, throttled performance, or disabled background notifications. I like all of those things, and I'd rather have to charge my battery a little more often to have them enabled.

But really, now that I've had the phone for about a week now, I am very pleased with the battery life. No, it's still not iPhone 6 Plus lasting, but it's significantly better than the regular S6 I was using before. That phone I had to charge at least two times per day. With my Edge+, I use it for part of the day and then I top it off about half way through the day so I can make it until bedtime. The fast charging is so good that I don't mind having to put it on the charger for a short time to top it off.

Don't let battery life hold you back from switching from the iPhone to the Edge+. I like almost everything better about this phone over my iPhone 6 Plus. Screen is much better, charging is much faster, camera is actually better and has more features, going to have Samsung Pay which will work with more merchants than Apple Pay (unless you buy that new dongle thingy), has much more RAM so you don't have to reload browser tabs as often, and Android is honestly less buggy and more fluid than iOS now in many regards. I have really become disgruntled with iOS the last year or two because they have had a lot of bugs and things that just don't work right. I still love the iPhone, and there are some things it still does better at (battery life is one of them). But this Edge+ is serious competition for the iPhone 6 Plus. Then again, Apple's 6S Plus is right around the corner! Might want to wait to see what that brings to the table if you're on the fence.
