When moving pics to a custom folder I created, is the a way to delete or otherwise hide the photo from it's original location? Like if I download a pic and add it to my "work stuff" folder I'd like to only see it in that folder rather than having it in "work stuff" and "downloads". I hate redundancy.

Is the "work stuff" folder a physical directory on the phone's storage? If so, then as long you used the Move command (or Copy, and then deleted the original from the Downloads directory), then the photo should only be seen in the "work stuff" folder. (I just tested this to make sure.)

Make sure that in the Google Photos app, you're looking in the Collections tab, then On This Device. That's where you'll see the directories you created on the phone's local storage.

Yes, I've been doing some digging as well and I guess creating a folder is the answer here rather than an album. This is kinda where I originally found myself drawn to that other OS... Slightly more intuitive when it comes to these things. I'm also aware that I'm extremely anal and most people wouldn't care as long as their photos are viewable but for the sake of theoretically having this Google account forever, I try to stay organized because years worth of random stuff will eventually become overwhelming. When I got this new phone I created a whole new account after 15 years because my last one was like the wild wild West. Anyway, thanks dude. I can see you take your role here very seriously. I hope to stick around and be helpful to the next guy in return.

Google Photos requires a bit of a shift in how you organize photos. Once I got used to it, I much preferred it (but it does rely on saving your photos to the cloud). The Albums you can create in Google Photos are virtual albums, and have nothing to do with physical directories on the phone's storage. What I like about Google Photos Albums is that you can include a single photo in as many Albums as you like, without having to duplicate it. If you want to do that using physical directories, you do have to duplicate the photo file for each of those directories (which obviously takes up more space).
