Hi guys

I commented this on another thread few weeks ago.

First of all I don't have power saving mode enabled. I have a Galaxy S9, Android 10 (updated yesterday but i've been having the problem since i got the phone).

So as the title of the topic says, Google Photos won't back up unless I left it running in the background otherwise I have to open it for it to start backing up.

The only solution i've found for this is disabling battery optimization.

I also experience this issue with Gmail notifications and Chrome notifications, unless I left them running in the background, I won't get their notifications and I need to disable battery optimization for these app as well.

Is anyone else experiencing the same issue?

I had an issue similar a year or so ago, I found a solution that worked and maybe it will work for you as well. Go to settings, device maintenance, battery and scroll down to the always sleeping apps. Click that and see if Google Photos has been listed for some reason. Remove it from the list if it's there and that worked for me.

Hi, I remember your post from Samsung cloud :)

Yeah it's how optimized everything is no with pie/Android 10... You can disable battery optimization for those apps so you can get the notification , I guess they give a choice save battery or get notifications without delay .

I've been hearing that Samsung seems to be going more and more the way of Huawei and other Chinese manufacturers in terms of aggressive RAM management, killing apps in the background for the sake of battery. If that's the case, then all you can do is what was mentioned above -- make sure the app isn't battery optimized, making it more prone to sleep.
