Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL Pre Order / Shipping Discussion

Yes, The blue tint is definitely noticeable when tilting the screen, the colors are not quite as bright either. It is a bit disappointing. I will use it for a few days to decide whether it is too much of a disappointment, or whether I'll keep it and send in my Pixel XL for the trade in.

I agree. I went to the Verizon store earlier today and the shift is very noticeable and slightly distracting. It may not bother some people, but that’s not the same as saying it’s not happening. It’s most definitely happening (on both 2XL devices I looked at).

Everyone who's phone shipped via FedEx, consider yourself lucky.

Now I have something else to worry about instead of just the screen lol. Ontrac takes all the worse parts of every shipping company and puts them together. Just hope my phone shows up in one piece.

Be glad you ordered through Verizon. I ordered from the Google store minutes after orders went live on Oct 4th (64gb Panda) and my ship date is Nov 13.

Likewise, black XL is in stock available on Google store with shipping this week.

It's funny how impatient I am, but when they say it will ship on the 17th and it has yet to show that, it's a bit frustrating.

I'm with ya. 17th ship date here too and no activity showing on my order page. I need them to HURRY.....! Ship it already... Geesh.

Have you tried changing your color settings to vibrant or some other setting?

Do the guys at XDA make mods that can give you more options on changing the color output of your device. I may need to learn how to root my phone if this is the case. I changed the color settings on my OG Pixel XL to sRGB and tried it for a day, couldn't handle it and changed it back. It was too blue and very distracting!

So weird, I can order Black XL 128 GB for shipping on the 22nd, and my order from during launch presentation ships the 23rd. though original said 17th? How does this make any sense? They better ship early.

I ordered during the presentation and got my 2XL 64GB Black at 7:30 this morning by Fedex. So far so good! Nice upgrade from my HTC 10

So I order my unlocked Black Pixel XL 2 on Oct 8th. I showed a shipping date of Oct 24th , delivered Oct27-29th.

But online now it shows if I was to enter a new order it shows in Stock Shipping Oct 22nd if I was to order. Does that mean my phone should ship sooner than the 24th?

Thanks

I have two XL 128GB Just Blacks on order, one from the Google store (promise ship date 10/17) and one from the Project Fi store (promise ship date 10/18).

The first one, according to FedEx tracking, was picked up at 2:03 PM on 10/17, arrived at the Carol Stream, Il FedEx facility at 3:30 PM, and promised delivery EOD Friday, 10/20.

The second one, according to FedEx tracking, was picked up at 2:46 PM on 10/17, arrived at the Carol Stream, Il FedEx facility at 7:20 PM, and promised delivery EOD Monday, 10/23.

Curiously, *both* of them left the Carol Stream facility at 10:43 AM today (10/18) - probably on the same truck.

So, why the different delivery dates? I'll be curious to see if they both arrive on Friday or, horrors!, both on Monday.

PS: Despite the pick-up times above, I didn't receive the Google Store email until 11:36 PM 10/17 and the Project Fi email came today, 10/18, at 11:35 AM.

I really don't think that will matter. The whites appear white when looked at straight on, any slight tilt of the screen, it really doesn't take much, shifts the color to blue. Definitely noticeable, and to me annoying.

Did you have an OG pixel? Because the regular pixel does the same thing.

yeah Ontrac does that sometimes, it sucks. I got lucky this time and my delivery from Ontrac says out for delivery. No idea when it will arrive though, I've received Ontrac deliveries as late as 9pm here in California.

does ontrac require signature?

i have an OG pixel xl, and it does the same thing with tilting of the screen, even the LG V30 and V20 and G6 do the same thing.

exactly, this particular issue is not specific to the Pixel 2 XL. HOWEVER, from what I've read the LG pOLED panel on the XL is definitely not as high quality as the samsung OLED panel found in the regular pixel 2, and seems to be 'grainy' in comparison, which relates to the reviews of the V30's screen.

I personally looked at a review unit at verizon a few days ago and played with the phone for a good half hour, before I knew anything of the screen issues being described. I didnt notice anything I didnt like about the screen, and i purposefully held it out at a weird viewing angle at one point to check the quality. If I didnt notice anything at that point I think every day usage will be fine for me.
