Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL Pre Order / Shipping Discussion

Google ordered - Pixel 2 XL - Black - 128g - 10/4 - 10:15am EST - Ship date 10/17 - Del date - 10/19...

and it's on the truck to be delivered before 8pm today to West Palm Beach, FL.

Got an email notifying me from Google, 24 hours after I got notified by FedEx that the shipment had been picked up.

Why did they use FedEx? My phone has been traveling from IL for two days now.

Some things to remember, is nobody's mentioning whether these were Verizon, or Google phones, too. Also, the style and variety. I ordered a Verizon'd SIM model from Google on the 4th with an with an estimated ship date in November, then I cancelled and ordered an unlocked one on the 9th and got a shipping date of the 18th

Damn.

I (pre) ordered the Storm Trooper from the Google Store on October 4th [late in the evening], and initially only was the option "Notify Me" button. I expected an e-mail in a week or two, but of course I decided to check the Google Store the next evening (the 5th), and I was able to order the [same] unlocked device... . . . #TheCatchKicker :: My ship date is November 27th, and delivery date is November 29th or 30th.

Yep. I don't know if it is an inventory or demand issue, but generally it seems to me like the unlocked 128GB black are generally shipping earlier than the 64GB unlocked black.

Even today, if you go on the Google store the 128's are estimated to ship a week earlier than the 64's.

Google quotes the 22nd for that phone now. Which is ridiculous as I ordered during the presentation and am quoted for the 23rd. Anyone with 23rd see any movement yet?

FWIW, I ordered the Verizon SIM'd model from Google with a ship date of the 23rd and it shipped yesteday (arriving today). So the Verizon SIM'd ones appear to be ahead of schedule as well.

Anyone else's shipping from CA? I would have expected it to ship from Carol Springs like usual. I ordered the 128 black from Fi and despite selecting overnight shipping, it seems to be taking the longest route possible from CA. Odd logistics imo.

Yep. Unforgivable for Google to have this. If a company that makes the vast majority of their profits from wireless devices and has been doing it for years doesn't have this issue...

Apple: "We're introducing our first real redesign in years! People are going to go crazy for this, so let's make sure we really have good stock for these new iPhone X models. We're delaying the release so we have plenty of time to make sure we'll have reasonable supply."


That said.... Yeah, I agree, it sucks. I was in with my order pretty quickly so am getting my device early on, but would have faced serious delays to get my cosmetic preference. Slickwraps made for a pretty easy fix for that though.

Sheesh. I do not care what device a person wants to carry around in his/her pocket. Whether from Google or Apple...NO ONE...in a time when most humans not only own, but KNOW a large solid percentage of the world, and a large percent of people in the states, are Mobile via cell phone...No One should have to experience such long periods of time in between order & delivery. Ridiculous.

As an owner of a Mit's X7 (best tube set ever made), a Mit's Daimond 40in (second best tube set every made) and now an "old" Panasonic VT65 with some Samsung LCDs in between I ditched due to the poor viewing angle of LCD technology to await OLED maturing.... the first thing I noticed on phones with OLED screens was a "cartoon" like problem Google has corrected it sounds like. Sad we have to be controlled by the "average" opinion that is easy to fool with flashy "things". Jezzz people still by DVDs that was for standard NON-HD TVs like my OLD tube sets. Glad Google made a great phone that doesn't look like a cartoon based on the reports coming in. Don't do it Google... just make them the way they should be: properly calibrated!

I was just told by Verizon online chat that Pixel 2 XL in black 64 and 128 GB are in stock and ready to ship. Gonna call to confirm. May change my black/white XL pre order to black only XL and get it much much sooner. As it sits now, black/white 64GB is set to ship 11/1

I also chatted with someone on the Verizon online chat and I fought with them saying my pixel 2 xl black/white 64gb was expected to ship 10/25 but the orders status page says expected to ship 11/1 and they gave up fighting with me and filed a report to the Orders team to try to expedite my order so that they can delivery it on 10/25. They said I will hear from the Orders team within 24 hours. So let's see what happens.

128 gb black pixel 2 from the google store, unlocked. Ordered 10/15. Shipped 10/18. Arrived 10/19 with expedited shipping via FedEx.

Something to note, the phone only comes with a 3 foot usb c charging cable. USB c on both ends, so older usb hubs/wall warts won’t work. 3 feet is rather short too. If you are switching from a non usb c device I highly recommend getting some longer cables. Another reason wireless charging would have been nice...

Using a J&D screen protector (the dry apply kind that comes in an 8 pack). Fits just fine, seems good quality.
