Google Pixel 2 Camera Shots! Show Us Your Pictures

Posted this in another thread. With the new chip enabled in beta 8.1 I'm really digging the camera even more now! That extra chip definitely makes a difference in both performance and quality.

It's like now it feels like it does portrait mode automatically. The way it processes the Bokeh on regular shots is amazing.

Can't wait to take better shots and post them up.

I have a Sony A5000 E-Mount camera and I thought it was fairly good for average shots, but I decided to compare it to my Pixel 2XL and I'm pleased to say my 2XL I feel takes as good or better shots than the Sony. It captures better degrees of lights/darks and is more crisp. Especially if you zoom in on the full res photos. Portraits are also more crisp in portrait mode as well. Amazing what this phones camera can do!

What lens are you using with the A5000. The kit lens on the Sony is not really that great.

strikeIII: Just the one that comes with it. I know its just a starter lens, but I was on a budget

nelamvr6: Yes Pixel 2XL on left, Sony A5000 on right with stock lens

Yes, but the lens makes a huge difference. If you compare it with a lens with similar aperture it'll be a different story.

If you compare a cell phone's camera to a multi-thousand dollar professional camera where each lens also cost lots of money, the cell phone will lose in that scenario also.

But pretty soon things start to get ridiculous...

The fact that the Pixel 2's camera took better photos than a dedicated, purpose built device that only does photography to me is noteworthy.

Yes, the Pixel camera is definitely great and I'm not taking anything away from that. But I'm also not talking about a multi-thousand dollar professional camera here. The Sony A5000 is far from that and a lens with similar aperture is not much more. Your statement was he wasn't comparing kit lens but the camera but a fair comparison would be to match the camera with a similar lens spec as the Pixel. I just wanted to know for my own sake what lens he was using so I can take that into consideration when looking at his photos side by side.

Its just awesome that my Pixel2XL can compare to the A5000 with the standard lens. Its a lot easier to carry around and its always with me :)

You're mistaking me for another member, I never raised the question of the kit lens...

Right on! I just wanted to know which lens for my own purpose to take into consideration when looking at your comparisons. People are so eager to defend. lol
