Google Pixel 3 on T-Mobile

I hadn't thought of that but it's so true. I'm on Tmobile so
I feel better about compatibility prospects just from this, thanks!

Beautiful, glad to hear that. I'd heard there had been some issues with WIFI calling on the Pixel 2 and was hoping they got that all ironed out.

If I recall correctly, that was and AT&T thing - as in AT&T wants to disable the feature on any phone that they didn't sell.

I think Google is in a similar predicament as Apple initially was. A multi-year exclusivity contract with a carrier (Verizon) as Apple did with AT&T, to only sell their devices from that one carrier and thus the carrier gave them shelf space, partnered with them and likely invested in their line of phones initially to be able to get the necessary funding to mass produce the phones. I think every phone maker needs at least one major carrier to back them, and I wouldn't be surprised if Verizon demanded exclusivity.

I think it may be another few years (maybe at the 5 year mark) before we see other carriers selling it directly. But, at least the Google Store and buying unlocked is an option. Back when iPhone came out, it was AT&T or nothing.

I would say Google most likely partnered with them to be placed in their marketing / in stores. Not really to help build the phone. Google has money. They are in a different place versus Apple when they first came out with the first iPhone.

Does the Pixel have it's own VVM or will I have to use T-mobiles and pay for it?

Yup, it even has band 71 (600) on the pixel. I believe only one other tmobile phone has it currently?

This is actually a huge value point, given how much TMobile has been investing into 600MHz in anticipation of 5g. While the 3 isn't 5g, if you're in a market with band 71 active (most are) you may still see substantial improvements in coverage with T-Mobile (possible higher connection speeds?).

It's just been day one, but my observation on day one for connectivity. Xs Max and Pixel 3 XL same spot, same time (inside the gym, swimming pool area). Xs Max barely able to pull data and super slow connection, with Pixel 3 XL connection has been top notch (no pun intended) and able browse the web normally which was surprise because both Xs Max and Pixel 3 XL have same bands. Probably Qualcomm modem showing its superiority over the Intel modem in iPhone Xs Max. Overall connectivity has been great for me on TMobile thru out the day.

I'm coming from the pixel 2xl and it seems like it has about the same signal in most areas. I'm not seeing band 71 in the town I'm in even though according to TMobile it should be here

I have the Pixel 3 XL in a market blanketed with Band 71 and my phone is not recognizing nor connecting on T-Mobile's 600 Mhz frequency. I can confirm this is this case both via Project Fi (eSIM) and with a T-Mobile physical SIM installed. I'm at my wit's end with this issue as that is why I bought this phone!! Is it possible the Band was not fully tested or somehow incompatible with T-Mobile's network???

The works fine/well on the other bands, but just not 71 😡

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I heard it's been rolling out , maybe it's not in your area yet. Not the phones fault as when it arrives the pixel 3 should pick it up

The market has Band 71 where I live & travel to/from work. I was on the phone with T-Mobile Tech Support today and they confirmed Band 71 is working well. They were unable to advise me why my BYOD phone is not receiving that frequency....
