Android Central Question
I'm comparing phones and this is what I'm wondering about:
The Pixel has "17.19% faster downloads -1200MBits/s vs 1024MBits/s", but the OnePlus has twice as much RAM: 8 gig vs. 4 gig
-How does that play out in usage? I mostly want to be able to use voice search quickly (particularly in front of customers), I use voice navigation daily, but rarely do any heavy computing or anything.
I usually have simple apps open like messenger, SMS, Hangouts, youtube, Gmail, steaming radio/podcasts. I often forget to close tabs and have 50+ tabs open. I don't play games. I don't stream movies much, but every now and then...
Background:
I'm a contractor and I keep breaking phones. I've on my 4th phone in 2 years - (2) Moto Z-2 force and now I'm on my 2nd Moto Z-2 play (I'm tired of spending $800+ on a phone, so I opted for the cheaper 'Play' -I still like my moto mods).
I like keeping my phone in my front or side pocket where I'm guessing they get beaten by vibration and dust. I've certainly had drops and a drop in the rain killed my 2nd Moto force. Belt clips/pouches are a nuisance; hit my elbows while I squat, get caught on my tool pouch, and feel like crap when I drive.
I'm going for a fast -but rugged- smart phone that is ip68. I was leaning toward the Google Pixel 3, but I've read that the OnePlus 6T is essentially ip68 without the certification.
I've ruled out the "real" ruggedized phones like the doogee S90 because of the weight and size (twice the weight of my 'Play'). Also, while the CAT S61 would be amazing, I don't need the FLIR, it seems like it's maybe a bit sluggish, and it's expensive.
Any advice?
