So just wanted to tell everyone of a quick story of what happened over the weekend.. I went to go visit my wife up at summer camp she works at in upstate New York. Took some beautiful pictures at night time and some portrait shots of people up at camp, and most of her friends were amazed with the quality of the pictures considering it's a sea of iPhones up there lol. They were all like which phone is that I said Google Pixel 3XL and they said of course you have a Google phone I said yep, then one of the head directors at champ said with his iPhone 11 pro, that the new iPhone 12 will have four cameras. I thought to myself, doesn't matter how many camera lenses it has when you have fantastic image processing, algorithms, and the camera sensor is letting in enough light! just thought I'd tell everyone that story quickly!

Re: Google Pixel camera

Nice photos, but multiple cameras do matter. Google's processing and algorithms cannot change the focal length.

If Google would actually match their competition and provide multiple cameras, combine it with their algorithms, and throw in a pro mode they would easily have the best camera system in a phone.

As it stands Samsung and others have phones capable of taking photos that are simply impossible on the Pixel due to hardware limitations. Which is a shame because for the primary lens Google usually has the best image quality.

Re: Google Pixel camera

I agree with you, but I also do truly believe that I wouldn't use a wide angle lens nearly as much as a regular lens. As far as faster camera hardware from Samsung and apple, it's not just my bison so I just don't believe that their cameras are better. But it's up to the user to decide what they want and what they need. But yeah the algorithms and the machine learning and the processing of pixels is amazing! I mean it would be nice to have a wide angle lens sometimes, but I don't need one still.

What about a telephoto lens?

Re: Google Pixel camera

What about a telephoto lens?
I mean the telephoto lens of the Pixel 4's does sound intriguing, I'm not going to lie about that. And the fact that the machine learning can still process the image of a telephoto lens is incredible!

I don't care much for the wide angle, it would be nice to have, but I'm much more concerned with telephoto performance. Lack of quality zoom is the primary reason I still carry a regular camera with when I hike. Last few phones I've owned do well for landscape or macro type shots but are absolutely terrible for wild life.

Yeah, I hear you... I mean the Pixel 4's have the telephoto lens which Google can still use image processing for. I bet you the Pixel 5s will have a telephoto lens or a different type of lens. For the Pixel 4 A, just a singleton lens like the Pixel 3s, but it's not too much of a downfall it just takes amazingly great pictures still.

Its not much of a telephoto on the Pixel 4XL

Oh I got you... I mean for what it's worth, my three XL is a beast! I don't really need a wide angle or a telephoto lens, and I barely ever take video and the video I do take on my phone looks good enough for me. But I can't wait to see what the Pixel 5's have in store. The 4A for $350 is a steal of the year!

Nice shots! Agreed multiple cameras do matter, but most phone makers even with better camera hardware fall behind the pixel end result. ...

I must say that I do agree with you, but yes, pixel software versus other manufacturers camera hardware pixel reigns supreme lol I do know what you are talking about though. What angle and telephoto lenses.
