Google Pixel: Android auto is draining my battery

My battery has not been lasting as long. When I looked on my settings and hit battery, I saw that Android Auto was at the top of the list for draining battery even on days I do not drive. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Welcome to Android Central! Moved from the Android Apps forum to the Android Auto forum, since the former is intended for developers to promote their apps.

Try clearing the app cache/data for Android Auto, then reboot the phone. Does the problem come back?
