I preordered Pixel 128 GB White with protection plan - delivered 10/26-10/28.

I'm starting to have second thoughts about the protection plan. I usually avoid these but I fell for the financing trap, "it's only $4 a month."

Anybody have thoughts pro/con on the protection plan?

Yes it is free . it is discussed in the press release.

The link they gave me was to the Daydream VR, but they said we're supposed to get the VR as well. So I'm hoping for the best. If not, I'll raise hell on costumer support. Because I'd just cancel my order, and order it through Google, if the VR isn't included.

Is there any difference in phones or experience between ordering from google vs vzw? I am vzw customer with a upd so I am not getting an upgrade discount, price is same. Just curious if purchasing from google has any advantage over vzw?

I've been wondering the same thing. Like you, I've never purchased an insurance policy on a phone, but this is the most I have ever spent for a phone. I worry that I'll have some freak accident that destroys it right out of the gate. I didn't take the option when I first checked out, but I'm wondering if I should reconsider.

Hmm, I tried that but it wouldn't let me. Said the GW credit wasn't enough to cover the total, so I couldn't select that option.

I'm with you... this is the most I've spent on a phone also. My general feeling is that if you buy yourself a nice case and scree protector, you'll be all set.

So it's just the standard on contract price then. If you are on a plan that doesn't I include a subsidy then your bill will go up by $15-25 per month.If you are on a plan with a bundled subsidy (I am assuming udp) then it makes sense to do contracts because the subsidy is already bundled into your bill.
