I've been using my new Pixel Stand and I have some observations. The new stand is advertised to wirelessly charge with the same power you'd expect from a wired charger. The stand comes with the same 30-watt charger I purchased for my Pixel 6 Pro.

The stand charges my P6Pro in the same amount of time as my wired 30-watt charger. My experience has always been that wireless chargers were much slower than wired charging. This is not the case with the new stand.

My most important observation is that when charging on this stand, my P6Pro doesn't heat up. On the original Pixel stand my phone would heat up quite noticeably. Physically the vertical portion of the stand is not flat like the old stand. It has a scooped shape allowing air flow from the open bottom to the top. The inductive charging principle is undoubtably the same, so the difference must be the scooped back allowing free air flow.

I have found that mine is a lot better at charging as well. It is definitely quicker than the gen 1 and the way it is shaped makes it fit more securely as well and it doesn’t heat up. I don’t hear the fans at all even though I have set it to fastest charging. I am pleased with it.

I did not have the 1st gen Pixel stand, so I can't compare. But, so far, I am well pleased with the 2nd gen Pixel Stand.

I just ordered it from the Google Store since I had a $35 credit plus free two day shipping. I doubt I would have if I had to pay full price. Now to make room on my home office desk.

The wireless charging is supposed to be at 23W, isn't it?
Also, if you still did not get the December update, it would NOT fast charge. I like how it charges the phone adaptively overnight.

My issue with the new wireless stand is that the fast charging didn't seem to be any faster than the optimised charging. And it feels slower than wired charging despite being 23w

The vertical orientation makes it more difficult to place it correctly and I get the message to reposition it constantly, despite the phone being in the centre of the charger. Kind of wish it was just a pad that I could drop the phone on.

It's definitely not worth what Google are charging for it. If you're unsure on whether to buy it, is say skip it unless you find it on sale.

I've learned that fast charging requires the December software update.

My testing showed that currently my 30-watt wired charger and my Pixel Stand 2 charge at the same rate. Both should change with the imminent December update.

Your wired charger and the wireless charger will charge at the same rate, 23w. Though from my usage, it doesn't feel like the wireless charger actually charges at that rate when set to maximum charge. Still seems slower than wired charge.

The December update allowed the wireless charger to charge at 23w. Without the December update, it's a slow 5w charge or something.

Google has stated that the Pixel 6 and 6Pro do a fast charge until 50% and then do a slow charge until fully charged. Google stated that they designed charging this way to extend battery life.

I just ordered another 1st gen Pixel Stand from Woot on clearance for $29. The other one I have is stationed by my bed, and I wanted another in the kitchen where I'm usually typing away on my Pixelbook. The charging rate on the 1st gen Stand is totally fine for me, and it also charges in landscape orientation.

Here's the URL in case anyone is interested: sellout.woot.com/offers/google-pixel-stand-fast-wireless-charger-8?ref=w_disc

Until I see a compelling enough reason to spend $80 on a $30 overpriced Pixel Stand I will stick to using my first gen stand to charge my P6Pro.

My first gen stand charges my P6Pro adaptively overnight also.

This is disappointing. I've ordered the Pixel stand 2 and it's due to arrive early next week. I was hoping to wirelessly charge my phone at 23w. I'm Leery about installing the December update as I've read about some.of the bugs it had; mainly the issue with degraded connectivity.

I'm sure the Dec update will fix any connectivity problems. As I understand it, the delay is to be sure problems are fixed.

I ordered the new Stand after reading about the updated electronics inside, the charging power to match the new Pixel 6's, and especially the cooling fans. I never liked how warm my Pixel got on the first gen Stand and, as you know, heat degrades batteries. My Pixel 6 Pro remains nice and cool while charging on the 2nd gen Stand.

Looking forward to getting them (both stand and update) and hoping the problems are ironed out with the update. Thanks

Pixel Stand 2nd Gen is sweet. Definitely overpriced, but it's so sleek looking, and it shows off my 6 Pro.

Yes, if all you're considering is the price of a sleek-looking wireless charger, it's overpriced. But when you consider that it has sophisticated built-in electronics to work with helpful Pixel 6 and 6 Pro features and it has smart cooling fans to protect your battery from heat, the price may very well be justified.

Not to mention half the price is the charging brick as well.

It's not really that sophisticated. There are other wireless chargers that are about as fast and don't require a fan and are less than half the price.

The Pixel Stand 2 is definitely overpriced for what it is.

Fair enough if the most important thing to you is cheapness. Which of those other cheaper wireless chargers have internal fans to keep your Pixel 6 cool while charging?
