Google Pixel Stand (2nd generation)

Fair enough if the most important thing to you is cheapness. Which of those other cheaper wireless chargers have internal fans to keep your Pixel 6 cool while charging?

I don't care about the fan, you do. The charger is grossly overpriced for what it is. Many other chargers on the market that do the same job for less than half the price. Throwing a fan in there suddenly justifies more than 2x the price of competing products? I certainly don't think so.

I like the photo displaying capabilities, just like a Nixplay- that adds a lot to the stand for me.

What wireless charger, other than the Google one, charges the 6pro at 23w?
And is half the price?

It's not really that sophisticated. There are other wireless chargers that are about as fast and don't require a fan and are less than half the price.

The Pixel Stand 2 is definitely overpriced for what it is.

Yup. Then again what Google accessory isn't? Just got mine yesterday and I like it I guess. I want the 23 watt charging, but don't have the December update yet I think they pulled it maybe?

I don't know man, I really like the idea of having that airflow through the concave back of the charger knowing it's keeping my device that much cooler. I thinks it's worth the money.

Any idea how effective cooling from this charger would be with my phone in a Ghostek Exec case?

If you can feel heat on the outside of the case during charging it means it's being transferred from the phone to the case. So any air flow behind the phone is going to increase the heat dissipation thus making the heat transfer from the phone to the case more efficient. Not sure how much it really helps with any case or even just the naked phone, but scientifically you would think it has to help at least a little bit. I haven't had enough time with the stand or the phone to see the temperature difference between the pixel stand and a regular wireless charger without a fan.

Love the new Pixel Stand. Wow.

My only small disappointment was not being able to charge my Sony XM4 (12 hr) wireless ear buds with the Gen 2 Pixel Stand. I tried flipping the stand on its backside to see if I could get the wireless case for the ear buds to charge. Of course it didn't work. The stand did recognize the case because the white light came on.

After a quick Google search someone on Reddit posted that you have to stand the Sony XM4s case vertically on the stand. It worked and the case started charging.

Love you Google for thinking about Sony! By the way everyone, the Sony XM4s are a million times better than any generation of Pixel Buds. Fight me.

This is good to know. I'm planning on getting the stand and now I know how to charge my XM4s with it.

Just received mine.
I really like the feel of the matte covering. I kind of wish that ways used for the back of the Pixel 6 Pro, it would make it a lot less slippery and fragile. A case would not be needed. But I digress.
The charger has a nice small footprint. I should be able to find a place for it on my rather crowded desk in my home office.
Since I side loaded the December update I've been playing around with the max charging speed which turns on the fan. I can barely hear it if at all. I can feel the "wind" from it so I'm sure it will keep the phone cool when I use it.
Before I received this wireless charger I never really saw the advantage over wired charging. Wireless is naturally slower and when using the phone charging stops there by increasing overall total charging time. Wired charging is far more efficient. I doubt I would have bought the Pixel Charger 2 if I didn't have a $36 credit on the Google Store, so the charger was almost half price.
So..using it for a short period of time has my mind changed about wireless charging, not really. I'll use it occasionally I'm sure. I do like having a stand for my P6P for my desk. I wish it had an off button so I could use the stand without charging. If that becomes important I can always unplug it when not using it as a charger. At least I have options.

That's awesome that those buds work with the charging stand!

I purchased the Google 30 watt wired charger when I purchased my Pixel 6 Pro. I've compared wired 30 watt charging time to the wireless Pixel Stand 2. The charging times are almost identical, so the Stand does, indeed, replace wired charging, just like advertised!

I often use my phone while it's charging so wireless will take longer to fully charge by taking the phone off and on. I don't charge my phone overnight. If I did either method would be just as good. It's all a matter of individual use. So wired charging is my preferred method.

Yes, it's all a matter of individual use. I've always worked from home and my Stand sits beside my computer. I seldom take it off the Stand, as I'm usually needing to work with my computer while talking.

I don't charge my phone overnight either. While sleeping, my phone lives under my pillow. It's always ready to change the Google Home thermostat temperature, turn lights ON/OFF, and check to see what's going on in live view from one of my 5 Google Home security cameras. I use the Kindle Android app to read before going to sleep. And of course, I like to check what's going on here in the forum.

I use my phone for work calls but with my bluetooth Plantronics earpieces. I dislike speaker phone talking and hate holding my phone for calls. Who knows, maybe with the stand on my desk I'll use it more than I think I will. I'm adaptable to new tech ( new to me anyway).

The OFF button is the USB C cable. Just disconnect it from the base of stand. You don't have to unplug it from the wall. But that's just some advice.

I'm new to the P6P and Stand 2 and have a question. I would like the screen completely turned off when on the stand and charging. Found the setting screen off when dark but it always shows a barely lit lockscreen and I don't want any burn in.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts or ideas.

Yes I found that weird too. I don't think there is anyway to have the screen off while charging unless in a dark room. Also having to touch and hold the fingerprint icon to go to home screen as opposed to just tapping is a pain.

One way to slay that dragon is to disable the Pixel Stand app under Setting-Apps.

Also, you should be able to go to
settings - connected devices - Pixel Stand, and tap on it...you should see an option for screen off while charging. I am at work and cannot verify. But I do remember setting up my P6P and 4XL to not exhibit any type of display when charging on my regular OG Pixel Stand. When I first used the Gen 2 Pixel stand I only had to tap no thanks during setup for my P6P and 4XL when initially using the stand. The stand will want you to setup the features you desire for you phone while charging.

Golly gee willikers Mr. Wizard! I never knew the cable can be unplugged at either end!!!

You can set the screen to go off while charging, but only when charging in a dark room and not just turn it off indefinitely while charging. I found that odd
