Google pixel sync contacts help

Hello everyone, I just got a pixel and I'm trying to figure out how to sync my outlook.com contacts to the phone. On the note 7 it was a breeze, but this is frustrating.

Google support wasn't helpful. They hung up the phone when I was trying to figure out how to sync contacts.

I would def like to see if anyone can help here.

I dont see microsoft or outlook.com as an option in account settings.

Same problem here. Sorry I had to let the Note 7 and Edge go. Repeatedly update contacts only to lose it. Doesnt seem like it needs to be rocket science. ??????

Add your outlook.com account to the Gmail app as an exchange account. That's how I have mine set up and my contacts and calendar sync perfectly.

When I try this it says I have a duplicate account, I can not remove my OneDrive account, will I need to uninstall all of my Microsoft apps first?

I'm not sure if you would need to or not. I wouldn't think so, but I added my email account before I installed any Microsoft apps. That seems strange that it wouldn't let you add an exchange account. That's different than the OneDrive account. They're listed separately for me under Settings->Accounts.
