Google Pixel USB-C wired buds to function with a Galaxy s8 on the most recent version of Android 9?

[Android Central Question]

I bought some Google Pixel USB-C wired earbuds to use with my Samsung Galaxy s8, but they haven't been registering with the device. I have tried plugging them in both ways, restarting the phone, and adjusting some developer settings (I eventually disabled them). I tested the earbuds with my laptop, and they work fine so I suspect it's an issue with my phone.

Let me know if there are any steps I can take or settings I can tweak to fix this problem.

They will not work. I tried a type c headphone adapter and the same issue was happening. Wireless or headphone jack it is.
