Google Pixel XL - Preorder /order/shipping thread

Ugh. Shipping hasn't updated in hours, yet it says delivery today. There are TWO FedEx trucks outside my building and I'm going nuts.

I ordered the week before you with Verizon... XL 128gb promised 10/20/16 delayed until 11/18/16 due to inventory shortage (if yours is not XL you will probably get sooner)

I ordered a black 128gb from Verizon on the 17th, and my order has shown an expected delivery date of 10/28, with the warning that they are awaiting inventory. Has anyone else had experience with Verizon and delays beyond what their order says?

Yup. I ordered on Verizon Oct. 14, pixel XL 128gb. original delivery date was Oct 20, 2016, but now its Nov. 18, 2016. My order has been in "processing" status since Oct. 16. Waiting continues...

I ordered a Silver XL on the 16th with 10/28 delivery date. It should be shipping today.

They might move my date back to that if it doesn't ship/deliver on 10/28...

Gravity, sorry to say, but I would be on the lookout for a postponement if those of us who pre-ordered earlier dont start posting with joy about shipping notices in the next 3 days. I hope I'm wrong and we can all leave this thread and move on to talking about how awesome our devices are, but I have grown a little pessimistic this past week.

The latest news seems to be that Pixel demand outweighs the supply. Demand for the XL has been particularly strong (paraphrased from AC article). I'm not expecting to see deliveries ahead of schedule.

The shipping delays are going to destroy this device. A bulk of the people are going to be waiting until next month. If another delay happens, I can see a lot of users switching to another device. Then again, all of the devices except for the XL 128 or the blue version have widespread availability.

Actual supply or artificially limited supply?

The difference is philosophical. There are not enough devices in inventory to meet current orders. That much at least seems to be true.

Did Google make a plan to stock fewer devices to create a "run" on their phones? I dunno. If they did, then that's their marketing strategy. The simpler explanation would be that Google couldn't predict how the Pixel would sell. Rather than over produce the phones and then dump them later at fire sale prices, they opted to take a more conservative approach.

This happens with most big devices. I wouldn't be sweating it if it wasn't my Note 7 replacement. The delays aren't going to kill anything. It's only bad for those of us that pre-ordered, everyone else knows to expect it to take a while.

Read an article yesterday that even though phones ordered through Fi say they are available, they are actually out of stock and facing about a three week delay. So it sounds like google is trying to catch up on supply, guess you will be one of the first to see when yours actually ships.

I've ordered through project Fi

32gb quite black XL

Ordered on 10/18 - was shipped today (10/26) - scheduled for delivery this Friday (10/28)

Range on the original order - (10/27 - 10/31)

Hate to say it but iam kinda losing interest with a month to wait for my shipment. Iam starting to think of that $$$ spent and how my Nexus 6p is still a darn good phone.

I hate that feeling. I got it during the whole note 7 thing.

I ordered my 128GB XL through Verizon on 10/14 with a ship by date of 10/28. Nothing yet on mine. What's funny is that I am a business account and about 15 minutes before I placed the actual order the phone was saying ship by 10/20. I sat on it and thought about for 15 minutes before I pulled the trigger and by the time i ordered the ship by date had changed. My local store has 128GB Pixel in stock and I am seriously thinking about just getting it and foregoing the XL.

I am feeling the same way, mine has a ship date of 11/11 on my 128 xl, as much as I would like the bigger screen and the larger battery, but seriously just considering picking up a pixel 128. The lustre of having the phone is wearing off a bit, I may lose my free daydream from the preorder by doing this, but Im just starting to get annoyed and if people who have 10/28 ship by are getting moved back to 11/18, my gut is telling me my 11/11 ship date will probably get pushed back beyond thanksgiving. Honestly If I was the CEO of Verizon Wireless and paid a pretty penny for the exclusivity of selling the pixel and pixel xl (which I am sure they did) I would be ripping Google and HTC a new rear end about the lack of stock available on the XL and telling google and htc that they need to do something for their frustrated customers for their lack of planning, but then again large corporations dont really care about us the end consumer they are only worried about the billions of dollars they are gonna make.

I ordered a Very Silver 128gb XL from the Play Store on 10/4 at 6pm Pacific Time, and got 11/23 ship date.

I was hoping it would come sooner than 11/23, but it seems like Google had other plans. It really sets me back with development for my app iMessage for Android because I don't have a phone to test it on. I guess I'll just have to wait.

This disaster makes me wonder how long it's going to take for people to get their Daydreams.

No point pushing out lots of Daydream units if people don't have their Pixel handsets.

Well considering the phone launch stock Wise on the XL debacle you would think they would have the Daydream ready so that when people to get their food they're not sitting around grumbling about their day dream not being available.

I am an Android fan I will never go back to Apple. It seems like a lot of people give Apple a lot of flack for their lack of availability and stock at launches. Based on some things I've been reading people are giving Google an HTC a free pass , because of the Note 7 problems which is not acceptable. Honestly the second that it was reported that Note 7 were catching on fire , Google and Verizon should have picked up the phone and told HTC to ramp up production. We should not sit around and give them a free pass. We are their their consumer and when they are not delivering good service we need to let them know.

So I know a lot of us sit on here and are frustrated about the stock levels on the xl particularly,. But I'm challenging everyone who reads this post to take 10 minutes out of your day today to write an email to Google to Verizon to HTC and share your shipping debacle story , let them know that you're frustrated with the launch of this phone. You may not think it will make a difference but if they get thousands of complaints we can and will make a difference.
