google play and home screen issues

so recently when ever I text or get a phone call google play opens to the last song or album i played, it will become by screen background, and I have to close it out. I have tried several times to reboot the phone, no luck.
not sure where to go with this, is it a sign the phone is near its EOL?? it still keeps a great charge for the day and works fine.

What have you tried to do? What launcher are you using? Worst case, have you tried a factory reset?

so heres more info...
it only happens when I start to drive and my phone connects to the bluetooth system.
stock launcher.

have not done a factory reset, dont want to reload everything if possible.
if factory reset, I would have to put back my music and pics right?

Aha! I wondered if it was that. (Sorry, I saw this last week but hadn't had time to look into on my old Maxx,which is in a drawer somewhere.)
