Google Play and Screen timeout

How do you keep the screen from going dark when using Google play ( or any other media play for that fact )? I want to see what is playing all the time, for instance when I am in my car driving and don't want to reach over and press the button to unlock the screen after it has gone dark and locked. Any advice would be great. Thanks.

OK, for Starts Google Play is the App Store. Now if you are watching a video the screen should remain on. For use in the Car use a car charger and then go into Settings>Developer options and select Stay awake. Make sure to Turn On Developer options.
