Google Play Music: I want to play songs in alphabetical order

I had been using the Google Play Music app to play all of the songs on my phone in alphabetical order, as a way of going through them all and deleting the least worthy to regain some storage space. I had reached the 'C's. Then I had occasion to go to shuffle mode in a social situation. Now I want to get back to weeding out my library, and I can't figure out how I got it to play everything in alphabetical order. I clear the queue, and from the Songs tab tap on a song, it begins playing that song but also adds every song on the device to the queue in shuffled order. I clear the queue, and from the Songs tab bring up the menu on a song and select Add to queue, and it puts just that one song in the queue and plays it - but hitting next track just restarts that one song since it's the only thing in the queue. What I seem to need is from Songs "Add all to queue, in this order" but that doesn't exist. I wonder how I did it last time. That "Shuffle all" in the menu does not appear to be a toggle - it immediately adds everything to the queue.

If I go to Songs and pick a song and hit play, it starts playing them in alphabetically order assume suffle isn't turned on. Edit: I haven't tried this on the updated version though.

I'm not seeing a place to turn shuffle on/off. There's a menu choice "Shuffle all" but it immediately puts all songs into the queue, it's not a toggle. Oh, I am running AOKP 4.1.1 from Aug 17, and Google Play Music is version 4.3.609.436083.

I had this problem on my Nexus 4 with A 4.2.* (now 4.2.2) with a podcast (of the Economist) which has articles in a numbered sequence (e.g. 001 Intro... 002 Politics this week etc.)

The playlist was in the correct sequence but "adding to queue" in order to play mixed the tracks up. Shuffle was not on & anyway that only works on the queue.

Google help assisted me to solve this:
- in Settings - Apps - ALL - select Google Play Music, clear data. In Settings - Accounts - Google - select the account then unclick Google Play Music (i.e. unsync) then click it on again (i.e. sync)
- it will resync (Note: it disappears from the list for a while)

You may need to reload music, playlists etc. However I have on-device tracks, so it was a case of rebuilding playlists for me.

The support from Google was *extremely good*

Wyn :)
