At this point, you may want to look into a 3rd party media player app. PowerAmp has a good reputation in this forum and elsewhere.

You're probably right, but that would require the Mi Music developer to address the issue, which probably won't happen, since it's presumably from Xiaomi, rather than a small independent developer. You can always send feedback to them, probably within the settings of the app.

I don't use the Mi Music app on mine. I use Rocket Player which is excellent. I also think the SD card may be the issue. You may not have enough storage, (I use 15gb of music) but if you could drag the original albums to internal storage from a pc for example, it should work OK. You don't want to have to name everything.

my sd card has 5.50GB free i have looked on the Mi Music App settings but can't find anything my sd card is fine sometimes it comes up with error messages and takes ages to copy when i have my phone connected to my computer via usb i use Musicolet. Think i am going to wait until Mi Music is fixed

Do you have the album art come up or an attempt being made to find them? Did you originally transfer each entire album at a time? Are they compressed files or high bit rate music as God intended.
You should try a music app recommended, like Rocket Player shown and see if it orders the albums. Try one album in internal storage.

BTW I like some of your choices, My first single, followed by my first two albums were David Bowie's around 1974. That's the Geriatrics you are dealing with here. I completely missed ELO at the time, except when played on the radio, but I enjoy YT reaction videos to them now, among other groups of the time.
