Google Play Music question

Is therer a way to simply play music stored on your sd card using Google Play Music. I sort of like the player. Sometimes it picks up what's on my sd card, and sometimes, there is nothing there. in fact I can't get it to see the mp3s I have on my sd card anymore.

Do I have to upload all my music to Google? And if so, then there is a weird bug because Play Music has been able to see my sd card mp3s and play them a few times already.

ANy help would be great.

Well, if this can help someone, here is what I figured. I went in the manage app menu, force stopped the app, clear the data, and restarted Google Play Music. All my mp3s are now back and available. This has to be a bug.
