Google Play Music Subscription Needed for Music on Android Wear?

Hey there,

I'm considering getting an Android Wear watch and I'd like to load music to the watch so I can leave my phone at home sometimes.

Do I need to have a paid subscription to Google Play Music?

Will it work if I DON'T have PAID subscription, but I have music in my Google Music locker (or whatever it's called). If I have some songs saved for offline use on my phone, can I sync those across to the watch?
