Hey guys!

So my Spotify premium 6 months trial is ending this week so I have to make a choice: get a paying subscription for Spotify or Google Play Music (which I've also tried for free).

Normally I would choose Google Play Music hands down for two reasons: first, of course, I'm already using it for my offline music anyway so that's one less app on my phone. But the second and most important thing is that I enjoy the fact that they allow you to shuffle every song available which is great for discovering new music. Spotify doesn't allow that.

On the flip side you need a browser to listen to music on a PC and I never ever connect my personal Google account on my work computer. But given I have my phone with me it's not really an issue.

As for Spotify, it seems to be used a lot more by bands and articles who build lists and such so by getting a GPM account instead I'd be missing out of that kind of thing.

What do you guys think? Google Play Music or Spotify?

I personally like GPM more, especially with the free YouTube Red included and at $15 ish per month for 6 people getting both services, that's a better deal IMO. I do have several friends who prefer Spotify though.

Yeah YouTube Red is not available in my country (Canada) so that's no good for me and Spotify offers Premium Family for the same price except it's for 5 people and not 6 but we're only 5 in our house so that would be enough.

The last I heard, Google had a larger catalog than Spotify. Things may have changed since then though. I thought they had 40M songs vs 30M on Spotify.

I've also read that. This did help in my decision as well. The artist payments just kind of cut the tie.

Apple Music also pays more that GPM does but, when you're not on Apple, it's just a pain.
