Google Play services draining battery + windows cannot recognize the phone! How can I make a back up?

Hey all,
I have a Smsung Galaxy S3 I have recently seen that the google play services is using all my battery. I wanted to back up and reset the phone. However, my windows computer does not open my phone storage. Something to do with the MTP driver. HOWEVER, I tried another S3 phone that I had and it is fine.
I am sure the problem is the phone because I had this problem connecting to two other computers with windows 7 and 8.
Any ideas how to make a back up now?
Thanks,

Welcome to Android Central! Moved to the S3 forum, since it makes more sense here than the Google Play Store forum.

Does Google Play Services still use a lot of battery after a reboot?

When you connect via USB, do you see a USB connection notification in the status bar? Swipe down and tap it, then make sure MTP is selected. Does that help?
