Google play services eating up battery, how do I stop that?

Is there anyway to stop google play services from eating up so much battery?

Google Play Services need to run in the background. It's a service layer that offers additional functionality to other apps on your system, so it can't be disabled or put to sleep unless you want other stuff to stop working.

:/ Okay. I was just hoping I could do a little something to keep it from eating up battery. It's at the top when I check my battery and what apps are eating up a lot of battery.
