What all is included in Google Play Services? It's killing my battery.

Gmail is set to manual sync. Play Store is set to all manual too (no automatic updating) .

I'm trying to figure out what I can disable or adjust

Eating up a lot of mine as well. Common issue with Google Play services spanning back a handful of devices of mine.

So even after this post your battery is still suffering?

I don't know if suffering is the right way to describe it but I guess with "Google" features all set to manual I don't understand why a primary culprit in my battery usage is Google

Maybe I'll tone down Location services and see if that helps too

Something is definitely running rogue on there. My last 2 days that I posted in the thread linked above I had 14 hours up time with 5 hours SOT and Google Play Services is no where to be seen. I have Google services at about 2 or 3% but that's it.

Try clearing the cache for Google Play Services and see if that helps. You could also try uninstalling and reinstalling the updates for it.

If you're on Tmo, it's the Tmo My Account App. Can't disable or uninstall it. You'll have to turn Location off until you need it.

I don't have a G4 yet, still on my G2, but Google Play Services is one of those apps that I feel strange about. Sometimes it barely registers a blip on battery stats, other times it crushes everything else.

I hate to say it but whenever I noticed my battery being eaten faster than normal, I always just do a "battery pull" shutdown and restart. This usually seems to clear things up.

going into Location and enabling Battery Saver can make a big difference.

Both google services and google app can hang up and suck the battery down at times. Seems to be common across the android phone brands. Google keeps saying they are working on it, but, I have been reading that for a long time now.

Sometimes, as mentioned above, uninstalling the updates and then reinstalling them seems to make it better.

I'll try going to battery saver in Location settings. Wonder what that impacts and if I'll notice a difference.

Might try a battery pull, too

Here's where I am after being away from the charger all day. The gap is where I rebooted.

GPS set to Battery Saver around 10-11AM. All Gmail services set to manual. Definitely never made it this long in the day w/o a charger on my Nexus 5, but then again I never took my GPS off High and turned off all my syncing so it's hard to say. Not sure how I feel about this....I feel like I'm getting a lot of duration considering I haven't charged but don't have a lot of SOT so ??

I still don't know why Google Play Services is so intensive. Maybe it is that TMo app everyone's talking about...

Here is how it is on mine (first screenshot), and what Google Services are being utilized (second screenshot).
