Google Play store issue

Hello,

So this has been happening for awhile now, but recently became this bad. Before this, I would update an app and I'd see what's in the picture I attached. Then I would close the play store from recent apps, and the top app would disappear. Now it won't do that and still shows an update. Any ideas?

Have you already tried clearing the app cache/data from the Play Store app and the Download Manager app in the Settings>Apps​ menu?

Clear cache , and force stop play store and update it

I did what mustang said first and it worked. But I did what B. Diddy said to do too, for good measure.

Same thing just happened to me with Hangouts Meet. Force stop and clear cache did the trick, as well.
