Google re-authenticate message

Every day I get a notification from Google on my watch saying, "Account action required" When I tap on it it gives me the option to "Open app". And when I tap on that the little circle spins and spins and nothing ever happens either on the watch or my phone.

This is really bugging me. I can't delete the notification on the watch either. Can anyone help and tell me what I have to do to get rid of this?

Update: I ended up with a second issue. My watch wasn't connected to my phone and the only way I could fix that issue was to reset the watch. That fixed both issues. Alls good now.
