Google search voice after Dec 2019 update

[Android Central Question]

Before last Android update Dec 2019 I could turn off the voice by tapping at the top of the screen. Sometimes I wanted to listen, other times not. After the update if I tap the top middle it opens up a new Google search. I don't want to permanently disable the voice but I also don't want to listen to it for every search! Is there a way to turn off the voice after a search?
