Google services won't run

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? What's the exact problem you're having? Are you getting an error saying that Google Services has stopped? Does it say that Google Play Services has to be updated?

Re: Google Services Not on Rand Mc Nally Tablet

Hello,

Just got a 7" Rand Mc Nally tablet with Android 5.1 OS.
Tried to download several apps from Google Play Store and get errors stating it does not recognize my device, and Google Play Services not installed. Downloaded Chrome Browser, but still cannot download Google Hangouts.

What can I do to fix this? ;)

Welcome to Android Central! Wow, I didn't know Rand McNally actually branded Android devices. Did it come with Google Play Store preinstalled? If you had to install it yourself, then chances are the device is not certified for Google Play, and therefore you'll have problems trying to install anything from the Play Store.

EDIT: If you have the T70 version of the tablet, it looks like it uses the Amazon Appstore, not Google Play Store (so it's kind of like having an Amazon Kindle Fire tablet, which doesn't have access to Google apps). You'll have to install apps from Amazon (which isn't quite as big as the Play Store). See info here: http://www.dieselboss.com/travrout/rand-mcnally-tnd-trucker-tablet-gps-t80.htm

Thanks B Diddy,

Now I know why I can't open the Google Play Shopping Icon I got when I successfully downloaded Google Play Services. Guess I am stuck with Amazon apps? Wanted to download Google Hangouts so i could video conference while on the road - love the Rand Mc Nally GPS-Dash-Tablet. . . . It is a fantastic GPS (all hands free and can be cable free for up to 6 hours.
Am going to 'complain' to Rand Mc Nally, but it will probably fall on deaf ears . . .

THANKS, for your time and expertise!

Yes, unfortunately you're stuck with Amazon. Oddly, that link does specify that the T80 uses the Google Play Store. So if you like the Rand McNally tablet in general, then you could consider that model instead.
