google talk authentication failed

I'm having problem login into my google talk chat account on my galaxy SII. so far everything had been working fine, I was able to chat with my friends w/o any incidents until today.

when I try to log back in the google talk chat appt just reads "Signing in..." but nothing more, then like a minute or two I see a white triangle with an exclamation sign at the notification area (upper left) and the message "Google Talk authentication failed". I dontknow that is going on.

The error reads: Authentication Error
"Google Talk failed to login. If this is a Google Apps account, confirm that Chat service is enabled for this account" then ==> two soft buttoms either: Retry or Cancel

Is anyone else having this same type of problem on their google talk chat app?

How I fixed this on a rooted Droid X (should work for most Android phones)

1. Again, must be rooted
2. Rename /data/system/accounts.db to /data/system/accounts.db.bak
3. Soft Reset phone
4. Go to Settings -> Accounts
5. Backup Assistant took a few seconds to appear on my phone
6. Click on Add Account
7. Add the Google account that is failing to authenticate
8. After going through all of the add account screens, go back and rename the /data/system/accounts.db to /data/system/accounts.db.reset (or possibly just remove the file)
9. Rename /data/system/accounts.db.bak to /data/system/accounts.db
10. Soft Reset the phone again
11. If you go to Settings ->Accounts after the reset, wait about 10+ seconds for the accounts that you previously had to show.
