Google Text to Speech on Note 4?

Maybe I'm missing something, but how do I get Text to Speech to read text out loud?

The only thing I've been able to do is turn on the voice assist that literally reads aloud every movement on the phone, it's designed for the visually impaired.

Isn't there a way to have it read text messages and emails and other stuff on the device?

Under Language and Input settings, there is Read Notificaitons aloud. See if that is what you want.
