The power button is not far for me but I like the choice and I'm used to it from my other devices to do this.

Download the lockscreen app, add widget to homescreen and a simple tap and screen is locked. Job done!

Can also do it with a 3rd party launcher like Nova but it's better to do natively

Doesn't really matter how it's done imo. The fact is it can be done already fairly simply.

It should come standard and never understood why they didn't include that as I'm using it now on my OnePlus 13 on stock launcher

I'd rather be able to do it natively.

I'm not a big fan of downloading apps to my phone to do basic tasks. I'm still annoyed at having to use a widget for battery status because Samsung's new One Ui7 pill battery icon is hard to read.

But then ... I need to be annoyed at something!

About bloody time too. Been available on just about all other androids for years now. Still I use tap tap lock on my Pixel's. Just a single tap on the icon does the job.
