Google Video Talk loses data connection

I have the GB OTA update on my non-rooted TB. When I try to Google Video Talk with my buddy, my FFC picture shows, but his picture is just static then I lose data connection. I know his functions because he uses it with others all the time. So I'm thinking its a problem on my end. Any ideas? Do I have to be in 4G? Thanks for any help.

No 4g required. I have had several video chats over both 3g and wifi.
