Google Voice Alternatives

I signed up for GV invite a couple of months ago, but have not received one yet. I have a need for that type of service and have been searching for alternatives. One that was suggested was 3JAM. It looks cheap enough, but I am not sure how well it works. Does anyone have any GV alternatives they either use or are aware of? Thanks in advance!

If you are on Verizon, their visual voicemail is supposed to be the equivalent of Google Voice in terms of voicemail to text capability.

I've never used it, since I was lucky enough to get Google Voice.

What are you looking to do with GV?

YouMail is the solution for VVM, email transcriptions, custom outgoing messages etc. Basic VVM services are free from YouMail. Expanded transcription services are subscription based.

If you are looking for the faux number services of GV, not sure where you would find that.

GV became irritating to me because I'd always end up with about three different notifications for one voicemail.

if i was you i would try to sign up for another GV invite with a different email and see what happens.

another alternative is an app call "visual voicemail" (original name don't think haha). you can find it in the market and it is free. i have never used it but i have heard that is a solid app for visual voice mail.

That can be changed in the settings online. You probably have it set to do the Google Voice notification, a SMS notification, and an e-mail notification (I may be wrong of course). I have mine set for just the Google Voice and e-mail notifications (just in case the Google Voice one does not sync properly).

Yep, ebay. I paid $6.99 and had it within 30 minutes from some fellow in Asia.

Less than one month verizon texting plan.
