Have any of you experienced battery drain issues with Google Voice? I never had the issue until yesterday. I noticed with Spare Parts that it was using a juice even though I didn?t use it. I uninstalled and then reinstalled and the problem seems to have gone away. But has anyone else experienced this?

It was probably still running in the background...
Or maybe just a bug in the app. They've been releasing updates for bug fixes.

Well, the problem started again, so I had to uninstall. I don't really use it much except for free calls to my family Canada, but that's pretty important.

What bugs has Google Voice had? And I haven't received any updates or notifications for them in a while.

Its been a while but the last update was suppose to solve some problems with bugs in the app. Then again all updates for apps claim they fix bugs in the app.

I just noticed this occuring on my Evo 4g last night. Been noticing my battery dieing a little faster than normal, so I opened up Battery Monitor last night and saw that under Partial Wake Usage, Google Voice was listed as having been running for 6 hours and 58 minutes. I had not received any GV SMS's or used the GV app at all yesterday. I then checked under Network Usage in Battery History and it said that Google Voice had received 10MB of data since last unplugged (10,2xx,xxx) or something like that. Not sure what it was transferring since I hadn't used it at all.

Ended up uninstalling Google Voice last night before bed. Charged phone all night, upon waking up, shut phone off (still on charger).. booted phone.. then unplugged.. The battery has been doing a lot better today so far. I may try to reinstall tonight and see how the phone acts tomorrow.

What exactly does this do?

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it several times and it maybe was ok for a day, but the problem came back again. I've just decided to live without Google Voice for now.

I've been running Google Voice since day one. I get 12-20 hours on a charge, depending on how much I'm using it.

Since it was one of the first apps I installed, I don't have a baseline for battery drain without, but based on what I've heard, I can't imagine the battery running much longer than that.

does google voice always run in the background? ive seen it on several times in my running settings-apps-running services, or one of those monitoring things. what causes it to run without me turning it on?

Yes i would like to know why google voice is always restarting itself and running in the background. I have never used google voice once on my phone and i never chose to install it either. Also i cannot uninstall it WTF. I dont use it, I dont want it, Why the **** is it always starting? Is it one of those NSA things used to monitor my surroundings when i dont want that done? Can anybody tell me why
