Samsung seemed to of ended Samsung Messages on the S25 as it no longer comes installed. But they did a 180 and let you download it from the Galaxy store. Interestingly, the Samsung messages available for download on the S25 is version 15.7 and allows for RCS which is probably the biggest upgrade on the S25. The latest version for the S24 is version 16 with no RCS.

Does anybody know how to get the RCS on Samsung Messages that's on the S25 on the S24? Can you side load the app? I'm not interested in Google messages.

I'm returning the S25 Ultra because it's uncomfortable to hold with the sharp flat edges but will miss the RCS.

Also, when another person is on chat with RCS it shows the blue icon next to their picture. Very cool. What I really like about this feature is that you can send and receive videos without it shrinking down to an 144p quality. HUGE upgrade. Hopefully they'll bring this to the S24. But maybe someone on here can figure it out.

i found the samsung messages v15.7, has anyone tried installing to S24U??

By the way, will RCS only work with people using the same Samsung messages or with anyone regardless of what they use?

On the S24 try going to app info, top right there dots hit uninstall updates.
Go to apkmirror.comand download the version you want and sideload it. See if it works.

Can't uninstall updates. I'm on the One UI beta and I think it comes with version 16 so it can't be rolled back.

Not sure where else to put this, and I wasn't sure if I should start a new thread, but Yesterday, I had Samsung Messages with RCS. I had to do a backup/wipe/restore. I also had to go back and manually install Samsung messages, but now RCS is not longer working again. I checked and it's on ver.15.7.03.9 kind of annoying, but also RCS was creating so many chats every time someone else was texting to the chat, that was getting even more annoying.

Make sure it's on in the settings. Backups can do wonky things. Also check if RCS is on in Google Messages. It should switch when you switch messengers but can get stuck if you even opened G-Messages just once after the restore.

If it still doesn't appear by the next security patch, ODIN flash (keeping DATA) and see if it comes back.

I heard there's glitches on Samsung Messages RCS some don't get it no longer, I would go with Google Messages which is 10x better.

Personally, its not better for me or my workflow. I like being able to categorize my messages, so I dont have to scroll through to see where my messages are. I can just hit my tabs.

I did check the settings and all that was suggested, its still just failing to register after I did all that was suggested.

What carrier you on and are you on U1 or U firmware?

I'm on AT&T, with an unlocked S25Ultra. I had RCS with Samsung Messages earlier this week. It was all working fine until I had to do a wipe and restore. After the restore, it just keeps failing to register.

Have you tried installing Google carrier services from the Play Store?
I seem to remember people saying that this sorted out rcs problems before?

You can now , in the past you couldn't except Sprint at the time .
What is going on over there?! First they want to kill S-Messages. Then they don't. And now Unlocked supports RCS?

This further cements my Samsung is becoming Google (no vision/direction). I digress.

My phone doesn't even have it installed anywhere. Not sure if I Shizuku'd it away or what. So this may or may not apply anymore: See if there is an Uninstall Updates under the top right three dots in App Info. Downgrade. Let Galaxy Store re-update it.

Otherwise ODIN and if that doesn't work, the backup might be no good. Re-export everything with 3rd party tools and set it up from scratch one app at a time starting with messages.

Out of ideas, especially above about carrier services which was a good suggestion.
