I use Google Voice as my only SMS provider. Any ideas on how to enable the quick reply function to work with GV? (The quick reply function is when someone calls you, you drag the lock up to the Messenger icon to send an SMS in response to not answering.)

I can't remember the last time I sent a picture or video in an MMS. Thats what gmail/facebook/google+/twitpic/picasa/imgur/10000 other services are for. Its an easy way to save $30/mo for a service that is marked up by 1700%.

Eww, why would you do that?

Google Voice doesn't support MMS

MMS isn't required to send a message from the unlock screen.

I can tell you why I'd want what the OP requested. Nobody knows the phone number of my phone. I don't even know it. I'd have to look at the settings if someone were to ask my phone's actual number. My Google Voice number is the only number that I ever give out to anyone. It's been that way for over a year and a half now. If I were to send a message via the phone's messaging system the recipient would have no idea who it came from.

So, I'll reiterate the original request. Is there a way to tell the GN to use GV for sending out the lock screen messages?

If you don't know then there's really no reason to make judgmental replies.

I have been researching this as well as I only want to text fro Google voice... no luck yet.

Sent from my Verizon Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk

I sent a text message via google voice commands and it asked me to select GV or messaging as my default. Have you given it a shot?

Yes, I did. I set the default as GV. That didn't change the phone answer text message. It still sends it from the phone's number and not the GV number.
