Google Voice - Anyone using it as their primary #?

Anyone have lag issues with it - mainly outgoing calls vs incoming? I have used it a few times for calls. Some come in great, but using it for outgoing calls can prduce a lot of lag particularly if it is cell - GV - cell.

I understand MMS because you can't even send them. What aspects of the SMS do you find not good enough?

the google voice app for sms is absolutely TERRIBLE in my opinion. it starts a new thread daily and you cant customize it in ANY way.

I haven't use it for SMS at all. But from looking around the application it appears to mimic the website. Is that the case? So essentially the terrible functionality with SMS threading, etc is just the way it works?

For texting and SMS, I just stick with the EVO's interface.

When I call people for work or craigslist, Ill call out on Gvoice.

Its useful for some things, but not for a complete takeover.

plus 90% of the phones I call are cells, so I would lose out on my unlimited Cell to Cell calling from sprint.

It works well, but needs polish.

I only use my GV number when I don't want someone to have my cell number.

I've set it up so that Google Voice is used for my voicemail, with conditional forwarding. That works great. If they speak at all clearly, I can get the gist of what they're saying via text. With the Google Voice widget, I can turn on or off the ability to make outgoing calls with GV, and that's all I need.

This. I consider it to be my disposable number and I can use it effectively send calls directly to voicemail. I know there are apps to automatically send calls to voicemail, but I'm happier with GV's voicemail.

I can't seem to get properly Google Voice set up. What I want is to use my real phone# as primary and to be able to choose to use my Google Voice# occasionally when I call out. I cannot seem to be able to call out on my google voice#. I have the google toggle, I've used it, doesn't work. I've had google voice set up to ask me when it dials out which number to use and it does not, it just uses my main number.

If my GV# is called, it will ring to my phone so I do know it is connected.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Seems the latest release of GV dialer isn't working with HTC sense. If you could turn it off, you might be able to get it to dial using GV.

Gv uses landmine minutes. I use it when I don't want to give my real number. Bc of mms limitations and its use of minutes I stuck with free mobile to mobile with my sprint number.

I have been using it for some time, but recently my husband (the manager of the account) switched my plan to a shared plan with my step-son and I'm charged for any calls to a landline. All calls to and from Google Voice are to a landline, even if the phone you are calling is a cell phone, so it counts against my minutes. It has created a bit of a problem for me.
