Google Voice as default messaging app

I know this has been asked many times. So, has it been resolved? I used GV as my exclusive messaging app. Problem is emergency messages (amber alerts etc) still come to my default messaging app which is the android one that came with my phone.

Secondly, I hope that if GV can be set as the default messaging app that Android Auto will start displaying text messages from GV rather than my old default app.

My phone is a LG G3
