Google Voice for Sprint customers available now

I just set mine up on my Pre. It said I was only eligible for a Google Voice Lite account. I'm hoping after getting my Nexus I can go in and get the full blown account set up.

Not me

It doesnt work for me I have contacted @googlevoice and they asked me to let them know my phone number and gave me an email address to send it to. Wouldn't give me the options it said it would. Only option I got was to port for $20. I have my number in google voice already and it says it is a sprint phone but no options of using it as google voice number. I have a pre- maybe hardware issue?

I'm also using a Pre-. Did you follow a link from the official Sprint email that was sent out?

Guys, there's an issue with accounts listed as government/public sector accounts as opposed to individual accounts. You get the former often because of receiving a corporate or government discount. I think you can call Sprint customer service and ask them to make your account an individual account -- just make sure you don't lose your discount.

this might be my problem, I am getting a discount from a university employee discount my wife gets. May this has thrown me into be labeled as government/public

I couldn't see how to edit my earlier post about the govt/public sector discount. In any case, just wanted to point out that I currently have a Sprint Pre (that'll soon be replaced with the nexus s 4G), and the issue is not the Pre. Even Google Voice's blog page, look under FAQs, states that if it's not working for you, one reason could be that your phone is listed as a corporate account. I'd call Sprint and ask them to switch it to an individual account, but make certain that they'll keep your discount. I believe this is possible, as I was in the process of doing it when the stupid customer service lady accidentally transferred me to the business department; then i got fed up and just hung up and decided to leave my account alone.

Making/Receiving calls when roaming???

Here's a question for anyone that knows. I've read in other forums that if you integrate your Sprint # with google voice, that you won't be able to make or receive calls when roaming in the United States. Is that true? I know that google voice is not VoIP, so your calls are still via voice lines, but having read that, I got a bit concerned.
