Google voice not working

I did a factory reset on my droid. I then Reinstalled Google voice. I use my own phone number. It asks me to dial the *71xxxxxxxxxx number. That number within that is my own phone number. Is that correct?

Every time i call it it just hangs up and I have no idea what to do after that. It also says I need a provisioning code.

Anyway when someone wants to leave a vm it goes to a busy signal.

Any Ideas?

I went to my gv page on my pc and deactivated under settings. Reactivated and followed instructions. The *71xxxxxxxxxx was different than what was instructed on my phone.
